CRC students awarded scholarships for the Spring Semester 2014
We are excited to announce that nine students will receive $250 textbook scholarships. This is the first time the CRC has awarded scholarships since it was established in 2010. It is a significant milestone in the success of the recovery community at the University of Mississippi. Thank you to our generous supporters who made it possible. We are truly grateful.
UM Student Health Fair
The CRC participated in the annual health fair sponsored by the Office of Health Promotion on October 16, 2013. The event gives students an opportunity to learn about health related resources available on campus.
2nd Annual Fall Speaker Event 2013
The speaker event was held on September 21 at the Inn at Ole Miss Ballroom. Seventy-five people were present to hear a mother and son tell their inspiring story of how collegiate recovery communities have brought joy to their life. Attendees included students, faculty and staff, alumni, community and family members.
Endowment established for the CRC
A college campus can sometimes seem like an untenable environment for those students enrolling or returning to classes after treatment for alcohol or substance abuse. Thanks to an initiative to expand support services for such students, the Collegiate Recovery Community at the University of Mississippi has received new endowment to help strengthen students’ recovery efforts. The CRC at UM and twelve other collegiate recovery programs are participating in a research effort to create a national CRC database. The research is designed assess characteristics of early and long-term recovery in the collegiate population and track the effectiveness of CRC programs on improving recovery and educational outcomes.
